ACTRA ALBERTA CELEBRATES 50-YEAR-PLUS ANNIVERSARY

Calgary, AB — ACTRA Alberta is celebrating its 50-year-plus anniversary tonight at The Westin Calgary.

When: Friday, April 1, 2016, 6:40 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. MST

Location: Britannia Room, The Westin Calgary, 320 4th Avenue SW, Calgary, AB

“Over the past 50-plus years, ACTRA Alberta has grown into a mature performers’ union that draws on the strength of its members,” says ACTRA Alberta President Duval Lang. “As self-employed artists, we proudly stick together to build our careers and our cultural industry here in Alberta.”

As part of the 50-plus anniversary celebration, Alberta members Don Ast (aka Nestor Pistor) and Maureen Thomas will receive Lifetime Memberships for their outstanding service to ACTRA. Further states Lang, “ACTRA Alberta is honoured to present Lifetime Memberships to Don Ast and Maureen Thomas. Their distinguished contributions to our entertainment industry deeply resonate with their fellow Albertans and Canadian performers.”

Joining the celebration will be ACTRA National President Ferne Downey and the Honourable Ricardo Miranda, Alberta Minister of Culture and Tourism.

ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is the national union of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada. ACTRA represents the interests of 22,000 members across the country – the foundation of Canada’s highly-acclaimed professional performing community.
